Members of the public are being reminded that a deadline for submissions on the 8th amendment is approaching.

The closing date for receipt of submissions to the Citizens' Assembly is 5.00pm Friday.

The assembly says postal submissions received after this date will not be accepted.

These can be sent to 16 Parnell Square, Dublin 1 - or else submissions can also be made online.

The group already met to discuss the issue back in November.

Three more sessions relating to the 8th amendment are scheduled for next year.

These will be held on January 7th and 8th, February 4th and 5th and March 4th and 5th 2017.

The assembly headed by Ms Justice Mary Laffoy is considering five issues, starting with the 8th amendment.

A report on the 8th amendment is expected to be submitted to the Houses of the Oireachtas in the first half of next year.
