Having previously announced that Des Bishop would be waltzing his way across our screens in the New Year, RTÉ has revealed the full line-up of its sequin-sporting celebs for its debut season of Dancing with the Stars.

Among the novice dancers who’ll learn the ropes from professional partners are veteran sports broadcaster Des Cahill, comedienne Katherine Lynch, Operation Transformation’s no-nonsense medic Dr Eva Orsmond, and Teresa Mannion, whose dramatic warnings during a storm last year on the evening news means she’s suited to carry off the showmanship of the theatrical stomping of an Argentine tango.

Rounding out the stars will be boyband singer Dayl Cronin, a member of HomeTown, Big Brother star Hughie Maughan, Irish model Thalia Heffernan, soap stars Aoibhin Garrihy and Denise McCormack, as well as Aidan O’Mahony, the Kerry footballer.

Dancing with the Stars, by which the popular British TV show Strictly Come Dancing is sold internationally, will launch on RTÉ One at 6.30pn on Sunday, January 8th, running for the following 12 weeks. Last week, Amanda Byram and Nicky Byrne, who finished sixth on Strictly in 2012, will host the show.
