Review: I Am Not A Serial Killer

I Am Not A Serial Killer

I Am Not A Serial Killer

John Wayne Cleaver (Max Reynolds) is intrigued by serial killers and the act of killing.  However, even though he has been diagnosed as a sociopath, he is not, as the title suggests, a serial killer. That said, will it be a matter of time before he takes on that title as he discovers the identity of serial killer who is terrorising his small town? Will he have to act on his killer thoughts to save the town?

Given the subject matter, this is not going to be a film for everyone. It is dark, some of the shots are gruesome and the film itself can be quite weird.

That said, it is an interesting watch and study of human behaviour which is brought to life by an outstanding cast.

Everyone remembers Christopher Lloyd as the loveable, kooky “Doc Brown” from the Back to The Future franchise. His character, Crowley, is as far from “Doc” as possible. This is the creepiest performance we have seen from him in a while.

Lloyd is joined by the remarkable young actor, Max Reynolds. Reynolds got rave reviews for his performance in Where the Wild Things Are but we didn’t really hear much from him after that. His eery portrayal of the young sociopath, John, will make your skin crawl.

“Breaking Bad’s” Laura Fraser, rounds out the cast, as John’s mum, superbly.

As stated,  “I Am Not A Serial Killer” isn’t going to be for everyone but if you’re looking for a creepy, subtle horror film, this is for you.
