Three people dead and six injured following serious crash in Waterford

Three men have died in a two car collision near Dungarvan in Co Waterford.

The crash happened on the N72 at around 10am this morning.

Six occupants in the other vehicle, including children, were airlifted to Cork University Hospital and University Hospital Waterford for treatment.

Far-right candidate concedes defeat in Austrian presidential election

The far-right candidate in Austria's presidential election conceded defeat to his independent rival shortly after polls closed on Sunday afternoon.

In a Facebook post, Norbert Hofer said: "I am very sad that it didn't work out. "I would have loved to look after our Austria.

Death toll rises to 30 following warehouse fire in California

30 bodies have been found in a fire-destroyed warehouse after a party in Oakland, California.

Announcing that the death toll had risen, Sergeant Ray Kelly, from the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, said crews has begun to get deeper into the building.

They were expecting to find more bodies as they advanced, he added.

Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern refuses to comment on potential presidential bid

Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern said he "still has a contribution to make" as he returns to Irish politics.

Mr Ahern said his contribution will be limited to within his local constituency Dublin Central, stressing to The Sunday Independent that he will be playing a "very, very minor role".

20 new Aldi stores to open in €100m expansion plan

Discount retail giant Aldi is to open 20 new stores nationwide over the next three years.

The €100 million investment looks set to create 400 new jobs.

Aldi has 11.3% of Ireland's intensely competitive grocery market, according to the latest figures from researchers Kantar Worldpanel. It's the fifth largest supermarket - 0.1 percentage points behind rival Lidl.
