Gardaí have confirmed that they are investigating an alleged assault at a Dublin school.

The Irish Times reports that a 13-year-old boy was sexually assaulted with a hockey stick by eight other pupils.

The incident is believed to have taken place last Thursday.

The paper also claims a number of students have been suspended.

In a statement released this evening, King's Hospital school says gardaí and Túsla (the Child and Family Agency) are currently investigating an alleged incident at the school.

The school says no further statement will be made at this time.
