The son of Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren has set fire to punk memorabilia worth more than €5 million - on a boat on London's River Thames.

Joe Corré torched the items alongside effigies of politicians - including Theresa May and David Cameron - loaded with fireworks.

He told crowds on the bank of the river in Chelsea why he was doing it, suggesting “punk was never, never meant to be nostalgic".

"Punk has become another marketing tool to sell you something you don't need," he explained.

"The illusion of an alternative choice... conformity in another uniform," he added.
