Game of Thrones actor Emilia Clarke will star in a stand-alone Star Wars film about Han Solo.

The announcement was made on the official Star Wars website yesterday.

"Clarke’s role will round out a dynamic cast of characters that Han and Chewie will encounter on their adventures," the press release reads.

Variety reports that directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller had been screen-testing other actresses for the unspecified role earlier this year, including Tessa Thompson, Kiersey Clemons, Zoë Kravitz, Naomi Scott, and fellow Game of Thrones cast member Jessica Henwick

The movie takes place before Star Wars: Episode IV—A New Hope and follows the adventures a young Han Solo, played by Alden Ehrenreich. Han Solo was originally portrayed by Harrison Ford.

Actor and musician Donald Glover has also been cast for the film, playing Lando Calrissian.

The currently untitled film is slated for release in 2018.
