A woman has been arrested after customs officials seized 28,000 cigarettes at Dublin Airport.

A detector dog, Frankie, sniffed out the cigarettes during the routine search of two passengers who arrived on a flight from Frankfurt yesterday.

The cigarettes, branded "Kent", are worth more than €15,000 and represent an estimated €9,000 loss to the Exchequer.

A 24-year-old Moldovan woman was arrested and remanded in custody at Dublin District Court this afternoon.

She is due in court again next Tuesday.
