Dublin Fire Brigade is urging people to be careful following a pair of gorse fires in Howth this week.

Crews put out a fire in the north Dublin village on Thursday, which they say was likely caused by a firework.

Remains of a barbecue were also discovered.

They responded to a second blaze earlier today.

Dublin Fire Brigade has now taken to social media to urge people to be careful in the countryside, amid a continued spell of dry weather.

They are also reminding the public that lighting an illegal firework in any place could carry a jail term, or fines up to €10,000.

The warning comes as fire crews prepare for a particularly busy night on Halloween. Dublin Fire Brigade will be live-tweeting events over the course of Monday night.
