Hundreds of people have slept outdoors in solidarity with homeless people.

The Shine A Light campaign by Focus Ireland saw the business community come together for one night to raise vital funds and to stand in solidarity with people experiencing homelessness.

Sleep-outs took place at Dublin's Christ Church Cathedral and Cork City Gaol on Friday.

Focus Ireland say 6,525 people are currently without a home, and one-in-three are children.

It says over 2,100 children are currently living in emergency homeless accommodation, while more than half of those children are under 8-years-old.

On average, more than 60 families a month become homeless in Ireland.
