Footage has emerged showing the rescue of a young boy from a building in Syria.

The footage, from Aleppo, shows the boy hanging precariously from upper floor of the destroyed dwelling.

It is unclear if he was injured, although he appears to not be fully conscious.

The video was shot by the Aleppo Media Center.

As the boy flops around, machinery is brought over to try and rescue him.

A man stands on a cherry picker trying to coax the boy away from the damaged building.

Eventually the rescuer gets on to the damaged structure, and carries the boy off the side of the building.

Celebratory shouts of 'Allahu Akbar' (God is great) are heard from those on the ground.

Rescue workers said that Syria's military backed by Russian warplanes had killed more than 150 people in eastern Aleppo last week, in support of its offensive against the city.

The siege has caused an international outcry - with a number of countries and groups accusing Syria and Russia of war crimes in connection with attacks on medical facilities and aid convoys.

Syria's civil war, now in its sixth year, has killed 300,000 people and left millions homeless.

While on Thursday, Damascus gave a green light for United Nations convoys to deliver aid to 25 of 29 besieged and hard-to-reach areas across Syria.

But, crucially, not to the eastern districts in Aleppo that are controlled by rebels.
