Today will be a showery day with some sunny spells.

The rain will be heaviest and most frequent in western and northern counties.

Southwest to west winds will be fresh and gusty, with top temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees.

Early tonight, there will be further heavy showers and these will merge for a time into longer spells of rain, especially over the northern half of the country, before clearing eastwards later in the night.

Southwest to westerly winds veering westerly will continue to be fresh and gusty but moderate over the southern half of the country by morning.

Lowest temperatures will range from 4 to 7 degrees, with some frost.
