A 16-year-old girl has been killed in a car crash in Co Waterford.

The teenager was a passenger in a car that struck a wall on Cliff Road, in Newtown, Tramore, at around 8.20pm yesterday.

She was taken to University Hospital Waterford but passed away late last night. A postmortem is to be arranged.

Two other passengers, a male and female, both 17, were hospitalised with seriously injuries. 

The 17-year-old male driver received minor injuries and was also taken to hospital.

The road is currently close to facilitate a forensic examination and diversions are in place.
