One person has died in a plane crash in Norfolk and a second person has been airlifted to hospital.

The crash occurred at Hardwick airfield near Bungay.

The light aircraft came down on Sunday afternoon, south of Norwich.

A spokeswoman for Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a report at 3.36pm that a light aircraft of some sort had just crashed."

"When the first appliance arrived it was confirmed that it was on fire and unfortunately we have had it confirmed that there was one deceased and one airlifted to hospital."

"As far as we are aware it was two people on board and we believe it was a two-seater plane."

It is not yet know if anyone else was hurt in the incident.
