It's a hard no for Zach Galifianakis on whether Trump will appear 'Between Two Ferns'

[Funny or Die]

It’s been a busy week for Zach Galifianakis, who returned with a blockbuster Between Two Ferns comedy sketch on the Funny or Die website in which he interviewed Democratic Party presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. In just 24 hours, the pulling-no-comedic-punches interview pulled in more than 30m views, helping to humanise the candidate and having many wondering would Donald Trump be following suit. But if Galifianakis is to be believed, that won’t be happening anytime soon.

“No. That doesn’t interest me,” the comic actor told the LA Times when asked about whether the Republican presidential hopeful would be making an appearance. “He’s the kind of guy who likes attention – bad attention or good attention. So you’re dealing with a psychosis there that’s a little weird. I wouldn’t have somebody on that’s so mentally challenged. I feel like I’d be taking advantage of him. And you can print that.”

The Daily Beast also revealed just how Clinton came to the decision to take part in the much-discussed segment, with director Scott Auckerman explaining that it was the candidate’s team that reached out to the show, not the other way around. Clinton was reportedly a fan of Barack Obama’s appearance on the Between Two Ferns in 2014.

“A lot of times with Between Two Ferns, if it’s someone in entertainment, their publicist will reach out,” Auckerman said. “In the case of Obama, the White House reached out, and you never quite know if the person knows that their people are reaching out about it. But in this case, Mrs Clinton is the one who reached out about doing it, as she was a big fan of the Obama one.”
