A pedestrian has died after being struck by a lorry in county Kerry.

The man in his 60's was walking on the Abbeydorney Road at Bealkilla in Lixnaw at about 10.40pm last night when the crash occurred.

He was rushed to University Hospital Kerry and passed away in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area last night to contact them at Listowel station.
