UK police given more time to question terrorism suspects

The army's bomb disposal team was required in Birmingham on Friday

Police in the UK have been given more time to question five men arrested in Birmingham over alleged terror offences on Friday.

The men are aged between 18 and 37 and can now be held until the 2nd of September without charge.

Police cordoned off part of the city centre yesterday as an army bomb disposal team was called in as a precaution.

Properties in Stoke and Birmingham were also searched as part of the investigation.
