Several celebrities and well known personalities, including James Corden and Graham Linehan, have come out in support of the women, while thousands of others have tweeted their take on it.
Today, @TwoWomenTravel but you're not on your own in this. So many people are with you. X— James Corden (@JKCorden) August 20, 2016
Despite what those hurling abuse at the #twowomentravel say, there's no triumphalism or joy here...— Jim Sheridan (@Jim_Sheridan) 20 August 2016
This is the sad reality of Ireland 2016
Many people have also condemned the women's actions.
Deeply sorry for the #TwoWomenTravel today. Abortion is not something I would want my female friends or family to go through. CS— Cora Sherlock (@CoraSherlock) 20 August 2016
