Drugs worth €700,000 seized in two Garda operations this afternoon

Firearms and ammunition were also recovered in Limerick and Dublin

Over €700,000 worth of drugs have been seized by Gardaí in two separate operations this afternoon.

Gardaí targeting organised criminal activity in the Finglas area of Dublin seized heroin, cocaine and cannabis herb with an estimated value of €580,000. 

A firearm and ammunition were also recovered during the planned search of a premises in the Barry area of Finglas shortly after 4pm today.

One man - in his late 30's - was arrested at scene and is currently being detained at Finglas Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Separately, drugs with an estimated street value of €126,000 were seized in county Limerick following the planned search of a premises at Brooksbridge in Pallasgreen.

Gardaí targeting organised criminal activity in the Limerick area seized cannabis herb, cocaine, benzodiazepines and alprazolam as part of operation Thor. Two firearms, ammunition and a firearm component were also recovered.

The investigation is currently ongoing and no arrests have been made.
