The Department of Foreign Affairs say they are ready to provide consular assistance, after a double bombing at a tourist resort in Thailand.

However, they say they have not yet been requested to do so.

A Thai woman is thought to have been killed in the blasts in the seaside resort of Hua Hin.

Funeral of Bishop Edward Daly takes place in Derry

The funeral of the former Bishop of Derry Dr Edward Daly has taken place in Derry.

Dr Daly was featured in an iconic photo from the Bogside in 1972, as he ran to help victims of the Bloody Sunday shootings waving a blood stained handkerchief.

A supercharged meteor shower will reach its peak overnight as up to 200 shooting stars streak across the sky every hour.

The annual Perseid shower will be at its most spectacular from around 10.30pm to 4am Irish time, when it’s expected to shoot out double its usual rate of meteors.
