Two men have been arrested in Galway after drugs and cash were found in a car.

Gardaí on partol from Tuam intercepted a car on the N17 at Farranamartin at around 3.45pm yesterday.

During a search they found drugs cash and property, and the two men were arrested at the scene.

Both men, aged in their 20s and 40s, are currently detained at Tuam garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The property recovered includes a camera, fishing rods and equipment, phones and tobacco.

A sum of cash and a quantity of cannabis herb was also seized.

It is believed the items recovered are the proceeds of criminal activity in counties Mayo, Galway and Clare in recent days.

Investigating gardaí are seeking the owners of the property to contact them, and anyone with information is asked to contact Tuam garda station on 093-70-840.

Gardaí from Tuam, along with members of the Traffic Corps and local detective unit, were involved in the operation.
