Gardaí found victim lying unresponsive on Carrick-on-Shannon street after early-morning attack
A man in his 20s has been arrested in relation to a serious assault on a 40-year-old man in Leitrim last month.
The victim was left in critical condition after being attacked in the early hours of July 17th in Carrick-on-Shannon.
He had been in an altercation on a footpath along Main Street with a group of people, both male and female, when it continued onto the road.
Gardaí arrived at the scene just before 4am to find him lying on the street in an unresponsive state.
The suspect, who was arrested this afternoon in the Roscommon area, is being detained under section four of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
Two others who were charged in connection with the assault, a man and woman in their 20s, are currently before the courts.
