British documentary filmmaker Louis Theroux has debuted the first trailer for his new and first ever feature film, Louis Theroux: My Scientology Movie. The film, a collaboration with the Oscar-winning producer of Man on Wire and Waiting for Sugar Man, features Theroux trying to come to terms with the religion and the power players who control it.

Theroux’s trademark affability and insatiable curiosity bring him face to face with the former second-in-command of the Church of Scientology, Mark ‘Marty’ Rathburn. But unable to gain access to other high-ranking figures in the celebrity religion, Theroux hires and directs actors to replay incidents other people claim they experienced when in the presence of Tom Cruise and leader David Miscavige.

Louis Theroux: My Scientology Movie will be released in cinemas on September 8th and you can watch the trailer in full below:
