Man killed in early morning crash in Cork

A man in his early 30s has died following a road crash in county Cork this morning.

The incident happened shortly before 4.30am on the N72 at Longueville in Mallow.

The man was killed when the car he was driving collided with a truck.

He was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem is due to take place. No other injuries were reported in the incident.

The N72 was closed for a time this morning to facilitate an investigation, but it has since reopened.
