Dublin clamping statistics revealed, including most regularly clamped areas

Over 10,000 cars have been clamped more than once since 2012

New statistics revealed in a report by Dublin council’s parking appeals officer show which areas in Dublin are the most commonly clamped.

According to Independent.ie, it has also been revealed that more than 11,300 cars have been clamped more than once since the statistics began in 2012.

Of those, 1,953 cars were clamped more than five times since 2012, and of those, 59 cars have been clamped 20 times or more in the last four years.

In fact, two drivers have each been clamped 54 times in the last 48 months. This has led to discussions of a tiered fining system for those who are clamped multiple times, with a suggestion of the €80 fee to be increased to €160 for any driver clamped three times or more in a twelve month period.

The ten most clamped areas in Dublin have also been revealed: Ormond Quay Upper (Dublin 1), Mespil Road (Dublin 4), Burlington Road (Dublin 4), Wolfe Tone Street (Dublin 1), Waterloo Road (Dublin 4), Merrion Square West (Dublin 2), Molesworth Street (Dublin 2), Gardiner Street Lower (Dublin 1), Earlsfort Terrace (Dublin 2) and Circular Road South (Dublin 8).

Last year, €4 million was brought in via release fees by Dublin Council, which does not cover the €6.8 million costs charged by Dublin Street Parking Services for the clamping services.
