SUSI says they are expecting to receive approximately 110,000 applications
Students are being reminded to submit their applications for grant funding for the 2016/17 academic year.
The deadline for applications is Friday July 8th, and a representative from SUSI - the national student grant awarding body - said they are expecting to receive approximately 110,00 applications.
"We have received 70,000 applications to-date and we would urge students to apply before the deadline to ensure that their applications receive priority,” said Head of Communications, Graham Doyle.
SUSI has changed the process and said it will be awarding new applicants earlier than last year.
Previously, Leaving Cert students would have to wait until they received their CAO offers in late August.
This year SUSI is awarding students to the courses they have identified in their applications as soon as possible.
Graham Doyle added: "We have already awarded almost 8,000 such students which is great news."
The awarding body is encouraging students to visit their website www.susi.ie to review information about the eligibility criteria for student grant funding.
It also contains an online ‘grant eligibility reckoner’, which allows students to self-assess whether they may/may not be entitled to a student grant.
