Some 4,000 tonnes of bog land collapsed onto the N59
A major landslide in Galway has closed off one of the most popular tourist routes in the county.
The landslide began yesterday evening outside Clifden after heavy rainfall.
Some 4,000 tonnes of bog land collapsed onto the N59.
This is the main route into Connemara from Galway city.
Galway County Council worked throughout the night.
However, they have warned that the collapsing bog land was still unstable with bog continuing to "flow" onto the road.
