Thursday's weather: Bright at first, but rain is on the way

The day will start mainly dry with sunshine in the eastern half of the country. Outbreaks of showery rain in the west will move eastwards during the day and could turn heavy later in the afternoon over the midlands and north. However, many parts of the east and southeast will stay dry until evening. Maximum temperatures today of 16 to 20 degrees.


Tonight will see scattered showers across the country with good clear spells in between. Lowest temperatures will be between 8 and 11 degrees in light westerly breezes, moderate on western coasts.
