Councillors from Dublin's north inner-city are meeting the Taoiseach Enda Kenny this evening to discuss plans for a government taskforce into the area.

The meeting follows the visit of seven government ministers to the area last week.

They are hoping to agree the terms of reference for the exact issues that should be investigated.

Mr Kenny met with local residents in the area last week.

Four people have been killed in the district in recent months as a result of the ongoing feud between the Hutch and Kinahan gangs.

Independent councillor Nial Ring says he wants retired gardaí to be rehired on temporary contracts to police the area.

Christy Burke is an Independent councillor and former Lord Mayor of Dublin.
