Justice Minister: 'Gardai have all the resources they need to fight gangland crime'

Frances Fitzgerald responds to new arrests made over the weekend

The Justice Minister says the Gardai have all of the resources they need in order to fight gangland crime.

Yesterday, two men were arrested and guns and ammunition were seized, in what's believed to have been an interception of a possible gangland shooting.

The two men in their thirties are being held at separate Dublin garda stations.

Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald says Gardai are working hard to combat some criminal gang members who are determined to keep the violent feud going:

"Clearly they're doing everything they can to prevent a further occurrence, but clearly we have gangs who seem determined on being part of a cycle of revenge and retaliation, and it is a very, very serious situation. The Gardai have all the resources they need to fight this ongoing threat."
