Road was closed to public as army bomb squad searched the scene
A man in his mid-40s has been arrested following the discovery of bomb components in Dublin city centre.
Store Street, close to Connolly Station, was cordoned off just after 6am to allow an army bomb disposal team deal with the suspect package.
A nearby hostel was also evacuated, while the Luas line and the Busáras bus station were briefly sealed off.
Members of the Defence Forces were alerted after detectives stopped and searched the man. A garda spokesperson was unable to confirm whether the device was found on his person.
The bomb disposal unit removed component parts of an improvised explosive device before the scene was declared safe at 7.30am.
Captain Ciara Ni Ruairc from the Defence Forces explained what was found:
The suspect has been detained at Irishtown garda station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.
The road is now re-opened to the public.
