Around 1,100 cannabis plants have been seized during a search of a house in Dublin.

Gardaí arrested a man in his 30s at the property on Heronford Lane in Shankill following the discovery yesterday evening.

A spokesperson for the force said 400 plants were found growing on the ground floor and a further 700 were located in the basement.

The seizure is thought to have a street value in excess of €500,000, subject to analysis.

The man arrested at the scene is being detained at Shankhill garda station under section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
