A 69-year-old man has died in a collision in Co Laois this morning. 

The man was killed after the motorbike he was driving crashed into a pole at Stradbally at around 11.15am.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to the morgue at Portlaoise General Hospital.

No one else was injured in the incident. 

The R427 road at Kiloughan is currently closed pending the completion of an examination by garda forensic collision investigators. Local diversions are in place.
