Police in the North are appealing for information following a shooting in Cookstown.

A 35-year-old man was shot in both legs at a house in Drumcree yesterday evening at around 5.40pm.

Detectives say two men wearing balaclavas and camouflage jackets entered the home, threatened the occupants and attacked the man.

He is said to be in a stable condition in hospital following the incident.

Detective Inspector Will Tate said: “Incredibly this incident occurred in a busy residential area during daylight hours. We believe those responsible may well have been spotted by local people both as they approached the property and as they made their escape from the area on foot".
