Three others were injured after an ambulance and a van crashed on the N20 Cork to Mallow Road
A man has died and three others injured following a crash between an ambulance and a van in Cork.
The vehicles collided on the N20 Cork to Mallow Road at Ballygrogan Rathduff in the early hours of this morning.
The two paramedics and a patient had to be freed from the ambulance by fire crews as it had landed on its side.
The driver of the van died at the scene.
The road has been closed to allow a forensic examination of the scene and diversions are in place.
Meanwhile, a man in his 70s lost his life in a two car collision in Borrisokane in Tipperary at around 5.15pm yesterday.
The female driver of the second car is said to be in a serious condition in hospital.
The road at Fortmoy Cross is closed while a forensic examination takes place, and gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to contact them at Nenagh Garda Station on 067-50-450.
