The Swiss have voted down a 'guaranteed basic income' proposal in referendum

Under the proposals, all citizens would have received a guaranteed income of around €2,250 a month

The introduction of an unconditional national income had been proposed as a means of tackling poverty and inequality, but was derided as "a Marxist dream" by critics.

The final result showed 76.9% of Swiss voters opposed the plan in a national referendum.

An investigation is underway after the discovery of a man's body Dublin this morning.

Gardaí attended the scene at Hills Lane, Crooksling, south of Tallaght and Saggart after 9am following a call from a member of the public.

On the road, they discovered the body of a man who is believed to have been in his 20s suffering from gunshot wounds.
