Man killed in Co. Kerry crash

A male pedestrian has died following a traffic collision in Co. Kerry this morning.

The man was seriously injured when he was struck by a car on the Tralee to Ardfert road at Ballyroe shortly after 8.30am.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Tralee General Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The driver of the car, a 20-year-old man, wasn't physically injured.

The road was closed while Gardai carried out an examination of the scene and has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward, and have asked anyone with information to contact Tralee Garda Station on 066-7102300
