Man dies after road crash in Monaghan

Male driver, in his 50s, fatally injured when his car collided with a wooden fence

Gardaí are investigating a single-vehicle fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Drumcrew, Castleblaney, Co Monaghan on the N2 at approximately 4pm today.

A male in his 50s was fatally injured when the car he was driving left the road and collided with a wooden fence.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, Co Louth. 

A female passenger in the car was uninjured.

This stretch of road is currently closed pending the completion of an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
