Teenager arrested after man dies following assault in Co Derry

The 24-year-old was rushed to hospital but later passed away

A teenager has been arrested in connection with a murder in Northern Ireland overnight.

The 16-year-old was detained following the death of a 24-year-old man in Co Derry.

Emergency services were called to the scene of an assault in the Milldale Crescent area of Derry at about 10.25pm last night.

Two 24-year-old men were rushed to hospital after sustaining injuries in an attack. One of the men later passed away.

Detectives arrested a 16-year-old shortly after midnight in connection with the incident.

The PSNI says the teenager is assisting them with their inquiries.

The second man is understood to have suffered non life-threatening injuries to his head.

Investigating officers are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
