The jurors in the trial of four former bankers accused of conspiring to defraud have been sent home for the weekend.

They have now been deliberating for over 13 hours and have yet to reach a verdict in relation to any of the defendants.

Willie McAteer and John Bowe – formerly of Anglo Irish Bank - and former Irish Life & Permanent executives Denis Casey and Peter Fitzpatrick deny the charge.

It is the prosecution’s case that they were involved in a dishonest scheme that made Anglo’s corporate deposits look €7.2bn stronger than they actually were in 2008.
