PSNI discover 'terrorist hide' containing suspected bomb-making equipment

The components were found in Capanagh Forest near Larne by two members of the public on Saturday

Police in the North have discovered a hidden store of suspected bomb-making equipment in County Antrim.

The 'terrorist hide' was discovered in Capanagh Forest near Larne after two members of the public reported they had found suspicious objects in the woods on Saturday.

PSNI say "component parts of various items of an explosive nature" were uncovered.

Police have taken the items away for a forensic examination and say the investigation is at a very early stage.

Detective Inspector Adrian Brown said: "We are working to establish whether this find is linked to a terrorist hide that was discovered at Carnfunnock country park near Larne in March 2016."
