Cadbury announces €3.8m revamp of Roses chocolates

New wrappers and new shapes are on the way

If you are a fan of Cadbury's Roses, then you might not be happy with a €3.8m revamp of the chocolates.

Makers are changing the shape of two favourites - Hazel in Caramel and Coffee Escape - which are being redesigned to have "smooth contours."

It is apparently to ensure they "melt in the mouth easily''.

The chocolate maker is also said to be introducing new wrappers, which have 'easy open' edges.

Although these were partially introduced last year, The Telegraph says they are now being used for all Roses chocolates as Cadbury attempts to address "consumer complaints".

It claims the new foils will keep the sweets fresher for longer, and ensure none accidentally unwrap in the box.

Roses were first introduced in 1938 to compete in the twist wrapped assortment market.

Early designs incorporated a sampler or embroidery rose design.
