Amazon goes head-to-head with Netflix offering a monthly subscription option

This could be a real threat the current kings of streaming

Amazon is the one of the giants of Internet shopping. We can buy pretty much anything online thanks to their impressive online-store space. They transformed reading in the digital age with the Kindle and now Prime Video is going to take on Netflix in an attempt to takeover the viewing space.

As of Sunday, April 17th, users can subscribe to Amazon Prime on a monthly basis, rather than annual. This move places it in direct competition with Netflix. Up until this point, users had to subscribe to the annual bundle which included free shopping, music and original TV and movies at a cost of $99.

The monthly cost for the movie and TV bundle is $8.99. This is extremely competitive and will seem more appealing as they continue to announce new productions.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll know that Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May's new motor show will be hosted on the service in the near future.

It's definitely one to keep an eye on.
