The Boston Globe has printed a fake front page featuring Donald Trump as president.

The front page headline screams “Deportations to Begin” below an address by President Trump, saying illegals would be deported “so fast your head will spin.”

In the accompanying story the president calls on Congress to fund a deportation program amid protests and curfews in several US cities.

Another article on the fantastical front page focuses on a plunging stock market. While other catching headlines include: “US soldiers refuse order to kill Isis families”, and “New libel law targets ‘absolute scum’ in press”.

In a blistering editorial, the Globe called the mock-up “an exercise in taking a man at his word.”

“Donald J Trump’s vision for the future of our nation is as deeply disturbing as it is profoundly un-American,” the paper says. “His vision of America promises to be as appalling in real life as it is in black and white on the page.”

The editorial also blasted Trump’s rival, Ted Cruz, describing the Texan as “equally extreme.” It called on Republicans to find a “plausible, honorable” alternative.
