It will be cold and showery today. The showers will mainly be along western coastal counties at first, and there will be good sunshine during the morning.
But heavy showers will be widespread this afternoon, with hail, thunder and sleet on higher ground. Highest temperatures will reach six to eight degrees in light breezes.
Most of the showers will die away early tonight and the bulk of the night will be dry and clear. Temperatures will fall to between -2 and +2 degrees and there will be widespread frost.
