An Irish man has died in a workplace accident in Australia.

The Department of Foreign Affairs say they are providing consular assistance to his family.

37-year-old Paul Walsh from Tubbercurry in Co Sligo died in a workplace accident in the Blue Mountains in New South Wales. 

He was working on a telecommunications broadband installation project when he suffered a fatal head injury.

The incident happened on Friday.

It is understood he emigrated to Australia seven years ago.
