Morning top 5: Appeal for witnesses after man shot dead in Co Meath; funeral of Buncrana victims to take place

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a 55-year-old man was shot dead outside his home in County Meath last night.

Noel Duggan was sitting in a car at the Old Mill housing estate in Ratoath at around 8pm when he was shot a number of times, in an apparent gangland style attack.

A post mortem on his body will take place today at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

The funeral service for the family who tragically drowned in Donegal at the weekend will be held in Derry later today.

The five died after their car slipped on algae and went off the pier in Buncrana.

Sean McGrotty and his children - 12-year-old Mark and 8-year-old Evan - were in the car at the time, along with their grandmother Ruth Daniels and her daughter Jodi-Lee Daniels.

Mr McGrotty's four-month-old daughter was the only survivor.

EU Justice Ministers are meeting in Brussels this afternoon for an extraordinary meeting to discuss a European response to Tuesday's terror attacks in Brussels.

Police are continuing to search for one of the bombers behind the Brussels attacks, who was pictured at the airport moments before two explosions ripped through the building.

At least 31 people were killed and 270 injured in the three suicide attacks.

A group representing rail users say they are sick of being used as pawns in the ongoing disputes by both Dart and Luas drivers.

The is a danger of further strike action by Luas drivers over the Easter weekend, if they vote down a pay deal today.

The Luas deal includes pay rises of up to 18.7% over 33 months.

Two pieces of debris found on the coast of Mozambique "almost certainly" came from missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.

Australian experts have been analysing the wreckage - and have concluded it came from a Boeing 777.

The discovery backs up the theory the plane came down in the Indian Ocean when it disappeared in 2014.
