Secondary school teachers plan a series of strike days this September

This is in reaction to the talks on Junior Cert reform

Secondary school teachers are planning their own industrial action - with the Association of Secondary Teachers Ireland (ASTI) preparing for a series of one day strikes over Junior Cert reform in September.

The acting Minister for Education says she is willing to engage with the ASTI to clarify any issues regarding the Junior Cycle reform.

Jan O'Sullivan was responding the the strike plans if the ongoing dispute around proposed changes to the junior cycle is not resolved.

Ms. O'Sullivan says she is disappointed by the move and says the reforms have been accepted by the Teachers Union of Ireland.
