A baby born with ectrodactyly, a rare physical condition in which one or more digits of a hand or foot is absent, has been given a dog also born with ectrodactyly.

The 'Umbrella of Hope' group is an animal welfare organisation based in the US.

It announced that its 8-year-old tan chihuahua, Fleetwood Mac, will move to Chicago to live with 7-month-old Grace.

Their Facebook post reads: "Finding an owner who is just like Fleetwood is incredibly special and poignant".

The dog was posted for adoption in all of the regular outlets, and and did not get any local adoption requests.

"On March 8th, 2016, Fleetwood Mac will get on a plane with a Umbrella of Hope volunteer, and make the journey from San Francisco to Chicago and then the drive to Indiana", the group says.

"In Indiana, Fleetwood Mac will meet his new family, including Grace - a seven-month-old girl also born with Ectrodactyly affecting both hands and both feet".

"Nothing can hold little Grace back, she's a strong and happy little girl".
