A suicide attack at a security checkpoint south of Baghdad has killed at least 60 people.

At least 60 more were wounded when a truck rigged with explosives detonated near the city of Hila, police officials say.

The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Bombings this week in Sadr city and at a funeral north of the capital claimed over 100 lives.
